If you thought Tokyo, in Japan, is all about sushi, the huge population density and its claustrophobic environs, you are wrong. All it takes is just one trip to this city to dispel your notions about Tokyo. The attractions in Tokyo could make your holiday last for more than month if you are not careful but car hire can help you to pack in a lot during a much shorter visit.  The city’s airport is one of the busiest in the world and sees more than 65 million people each year from destinations all over the world.

Built to emulate the Eiffel Tower in Paris, the Tokyo Observatory Tower rises majestically above the skyline extending to a dizzying 350 metres. Its primary purpose is to relay radio signals, but the two Observatory Decks at various altitudes can be reached through elevators and the sights below are breathtaking. The lowermost floor of the Tower is crammed with roadside shops and stores selling all kinds of souvenirs and car hire is a must if you are going shopping here.

The profound image of the Great Buddha sitting in serenity with his robes flowing majestically in the temple courtyard is the picture postcard image of Japanese tourism. The Great Buddha statue at the Hase Temple attracts a multitude of visitors who bask in the glory of the place. For a fee you can even enter the statue and view the skyline from the top, though many consider it disrespectful to the monk.

The city is home to a number of stately building and the royal palace is particularly beautiful.  It was supposedly guarded by 100 men while the King lived there. For a fee, you can embark on a guided tour and delve into the splendour and the exquisite décor of the stately palace. You are also allowed to take a sneak peek at the jewels, personal equipment and extensive wardrobe of the King. The gardens around the palace are a marvel with ornate lawns and ample floral blooms in every corner. A walk in the verdant garden is sure to bright any day.

The most popular sights to savour in Tokyo are surprisingly located outside the city. Mt. Fujiyama, one of the biggest active volcanoes in the world is the most celebrated places of interest in Tokyo. With natural hot water springs gushing out of the mountains, you cannot scale to the peak after a certain altitude thanks to the heat emitted. In the vicinity, you have the Kegon Falls and Shinobazu Ponds to marvel at.

Car rental is the best way to get around the city and can be arranged easily so that your vehicle is waiting for you when you arrive.
