Beirut Airport Car RentalBeirut is the stunning capital city of Lebanon. It has got a mountain range at one end and the Mediterranean Sea at the other. It is turning into a very cosmopolitan city. It is the country’s largest seaport and has got a vibrant nightlife. Tourists can see this beautiful city by using local car rental services. They can see the young people partying and men and women playing cards and smoking in bars and cafes and these are ideal for getting to know some of the locals.

Beirut underwent major reconstruction after the civil war. From 1975-1990, the country witnessed a struggle between religious and political groups for power. One can still see the signs of the civil war throughout the city. There are bomb sites and bullet-ridden buildings but it is now a much safer city to visit.

The weather is mild and the best time to visit is between March and May, or September and November. Those who want to ski should visit between December and February as the slopes in Lebanon are open during this period.  Lebanon car hire is ideal for those who need to transport skiing gear around.

The Al Omari Mosque is famous amongst visitors. It was built by the crusaders in the 1100s as the Church of St John the Baptist of the Knights Hospitallers. The Mamluks converted it into a mosque in 1291. The American University of Beirut is one of the most famous educational facilities in the area. It is well known for its serene and peaceful campus. It is often called an oasis in the concrete jungle. Visitors can enter the campus from the main gate and those who have opted for car hire will find parking easy.

The National Museum of Beirut is also well known and is located along the city's infamous green line that once divided what was then East and West Beirut. It is a witness to the city’s history from 9000 B.C to present. The Place des Martyrs is located in the centre of the downtown district and houses the bullet-ridden statues of the Lebanese people who were hanged by the Ottomans during the World War I.  Most major demonstrations take place at this site.

Raouche is a series of natural rock formations situated off the coast of Corniche. They are very beautiful and the Corniche is lined with coffee shops offering an amazing view of these rocks. The Roman baths, uncovered during the reconstruction of the downtown district, are surrounded by a landscaped park. St George's Cathedral is located near a mosque and was built by the crusaders in 12th century. Car rental is a good way to roam around the city, particularly if you want to look for bargains.  Traditional Lebanese garments and trinkets can be bought at the Artisans du Liban et d'Orient in Ain El Mreisseh and there are plenty of other shops to choose from.
