Michelangelo's David is in the Gallery of the Academy of Florence. It represents David, a biblical character who knocked down a giant throwing a stone to his skull. Built on the legendary Carrara marble it is 5.17 meters high and weighs over 5 tons and a half. In its time it was a symbol of power and it has been recorded in history as one of the most important works of the Renaissance.
