There are 30 minutes left for your flight to take off and you have decided to have a coffee in the coffee shop of the airport and when you are going to pay you realize that your wallet is not where you left it , and although you are looking for it desperately you don’t find it anywhere! Slowly you begin to realize that you have just been robbed , and while watching the waiter looking at you with suspicion, you start wondering what happened?
Have you ever heard that story? We hope it never happened to you, without any doubt beig robbed when you are traveling is one of the most undesirable situations that may occur . But you can avoid facing this situation by following three principles:
1 – Keep the money and documents with you ALL THE TIME, preferably close to your body .
There are special wallets for travellers who are placed around the body like a belt. Many travelers choose to keep the money or documents in inaccessible interior pockets to prevent any burglar from even touching them without being noticed . Leaving the documentation at one’s sight or in the backpack or travel bag is an irresistible call to thieves who frequent any place full of tourists .
2 - Avoid the crowds.
There are key situations in which thieves feather their nest: Mass entry into a crowded wagon in the sunderground, music concerts where all crowd to be as close as posible to the stage, long and tedious lines to get into some places of tourist interest... It is impossible to mention them all , but there is a common standard : Too many people too close to each other . If you ever see this situation be especially careful !
3 - Do not accept any claim from a stranger .
Many thieves hide real actors behind who will try to make you fall in their game when you don’t even notice it. Therefore, and alhough it is not at all pleasant , the best is always to doubt of any stranger who comes to ask you a small favour.
Remember that every country you go will have its specific guile, one of the most successful measures to avoid being a victim of thieves is being well informed on the methods they follow and the sites of major activity for thieves.
