Three terrifying places for your holiday
There are places in the world that shake and overwhelm their tourists. Today we will talk about three of them, most of which have been subject of speculation, fantasy and horror stories that have become icons of fear and mystery. The truth is that, despite the fears these three places can infuse, they are still fascinating places, full of history and with a rare beauty.
The Door to Hell is an old mine of natural gas located in Turkmenistan. This mine is in the Karakum Desert, which occupies nearly three quarters of the country. In the Karakum Desert there are abundant oil and gas extractions. The crater emanates natural gas burning due to high temperatures underground, it has a frightening look if you watch it closely. This phenomenon has caused the Well of Darvaza to be called "The Door to Hell". For the moment nobody has been able to go down its 30 metres deep to knock at "the door". Although the authorities have tried to extinguish the fire on several occasions, the 400 degrees Celsius temperature inside makes it impossible to extinguish the fire.
The Ukrainian city of Pripyat is one of the towns devastated by the Chernobyl nuclear accident. Being the closest city to the nuclear station, it suffered 500 times more radiation than the city of Hiroshima, where the atomic bomb was dropped. The evacuation of the city was a real mess, tens of thousands people fled hastily leaving all their belongings behind. Pripyat is now a ghost town surrounded by forest that has suffered the horror of a devastating nuclear exposure. Everything was frozen on April 26th, 1986 in Pripyat. The visit to the city is a scary and overwhelming experience.
The Buzludja Monument is one of the many ideological monuments built in Bulgaria. It was erected to house a Soviet congress hall and it is located in Buzludja’s National Park in Bulgaria Balkan mountains. The Buzludja was built in 1981 by the Bulgarian Social Democratic government and it is abandoned for decades. The monument has become a grim and gloomy place, symbol of an almost forgotten era. The visit to the impressive congress hall and the tour of the abandoned interior corridors is one of the unique experiences offered by this mornful and forgotten place of Bulgaria.
These three visits are much more than a new experience, they are full of history and located near cities or unique natural areas. It is another way of sightseeing, the important thing is that you can enjoy your vacation and visit new and exciting places on the planet.
