Our trip to Europe continues leaving the charming town of Bergamo. There are many routes to continue an incredible journey through the Italian ranges of the Alps, however, this time we will take the A4 motorway for 2 hours to Venice. This city is a true work of art in itself.
Venice is built on 118 small islands linked by over 400 bridges, and its biggest feature is that you can not cross it by car, since it is entirely pedestrian. Venice expands around the Grand Canal, which is the main means of communication of the city. You can go through it by sea "taxis" and the famous "vaporetto", which are boats very similar to the buses of any European city.
After two days enjoying a magical visit in Venice, we can continue our journey to Croatia, a country that surprises tourists for several reasons. The main feature is that it is not a prominent tourist destination in Europe, but without reason. It's a real natural jewel combining amazing coastline and beaches full of islands and stunning natural parks. There is much to discover in Croatia; to help you make your own route through this country, we leave here an article about Croatia to better meet its natural wonders.
Once we have enjoyed the chosen destinations in Croatia, we can choose a route to Greece, we have two options. On the one hand we can choose a safer route that will take us through the highways of Croatia, Serbia and Macedonia to Greece. This route goes mostly by main communication routes, it is well marked and safe, as it has service stations across the highway. The drawback is that you lose the opportunity to see many areas of the Croatian coast and Montenegro. The other route is along the coast, you will travel all over Croatia, Montenegro, Albania and get to Greece, it is slower and less comfortable, but you can enjoy some amazing sights along the way. This route is 1200 km, but it takes about 19 hours, as many roads are not motorways. The other route is 1400 km but it hardly takes 12 hours using expressways.
Arriving in Greece you can relax by visiting the ruins of the ancient Greek civilization, from which most customs, beliefs, philosophies and languages of present Western civilization are derived. There is plenty to do in Greece, we suggest you to choose your destinations with the help of Google, as we all do, a helpful tool to see destinations is Street View.
Do not forget to plan your next trip, either this or the other one, the key to enjoy your vacation to the fullest is to plan it well. Enjoy this and other amazing destinations on our blog.
