Many of the most fascinating places in the East are found in this vast country, China. Its growth in recent years has been a great incentive to visit this varied country, however most of its cultural richness resides in its more than 3000 years of history. It is extremely interesting to know their culture, religion and customs. This is due to the great difference with Western cultures and to the passion its people show in keeping their traditions and historical legacy alive.
The first stop we can make in China is the great city of Beijing, which has become a mixture of modern and traditional China. We will find some of the most ancient symbols of tradition and history. For example, two essential sites on the tourist routes are the Forbidden City and the Temple of Heaven. Other sites worth seeing are Tiananmen Square and Mao's Mausoleum where we can see the mummified body of the founder of the Republic of China.
There is much more to visit in the country, and the extent of its territory makes it necessary to use the crowded local transportation. We can see The Great Wall in almost every single postcard in China. It was built during four different dynasties. The construction began in 214 B.C. by the Qin Dynasty, and after 1500 years it has grown to a length of 6000 km, that is why we have no problem in visiting it. Some of the most famous places to visit it are near Beijing and they are Badaling, Simatai and Jinshanling.
To learn more about the history of this beautiful country we cannot miss to see the city of Xi'an, one of the oldest in China. Some historians say it has more than 3000 years and it was the capital of the country for more than a century. It became one of the most prominent cities for Europeans because it was on the Silk Road, which made it a strategic point for trade. Today it has become a large metropolis in which we can meet the traditional China.
No doubt China is a very interesting country, it seems as if time had stopped in their ancient cities and temples to keep their oldest traditions alive. But at the same time it is equipped with cutting edge modernity with its large cities like Hong Kong or Shanghai. A country of contrasts that leaves no one indifferent.
